GDS Connectivity
The Global Distribution Systems or GDS account for a large number of hotel reservations worldwide. The four systems, Sabre, Amadeus, Galileo/Apollo and Worldspan are accessed by over 600,000 travel agents throughout the world. Travel Agents use the GDS to book many travel products, such as airline tickets, rental cars, cruises and hotel accommodation. Not only traditional travel agents, but many companies too reserve hotel rooms via the GDS. The GDS were created by airlines that were looking for a way to distribute their product and have been around for many years.
With times changing and booking behaviour shifting, the GDS have started investing in offering ways for guests to book through their systems directly, for instance via travel websites.
By providing connectivity to the GDS, RezExchange allows its customers to manage this channel straight from the PMS. Indicate which rates are to be available on the GDS and set rate restrictions in the PMS and RezExchange will make sure they become available to hundreds of thousands of agents through one of our partners.
As with all of RezExchange’s connections, the connectivity with the GDS is bi-directional, which means that all reservations are sent directly to the PMS database; no need to re-enter reservations received by fax or e-mail, which saves valuable time and reduces the risk for errors.
If you are already signed up with providers such as SynXis, TravelClick, Trust, Pegasus or users of their technology, RezExchange can provide you with connectivity to their systems and provide the same bi-directional connectivity.
